Ailing retired banker ‘leaps to death‘ out of kilter Thane building terrace

THANE: A 72-year-old was found dead in a pool of blood on the floor of his high-rise in Brahmand Complex in Thane on Friday. A preliminary police probe signals that the deceased, Prabhakar Bodade, could have committed suicide from the terrace of the building, Kabra Galaxy.
Bodade, a retired banker, lived with his son, daughter-in-law and a spinster daughter. He is said to be ailing for some time and was undergoing treatment for urinary tract infection.

On Saturday, the senior citizen had lunch around 2.30 pm and then told his relatives that he was going for a walk. When he did not return after 40 minutes, they started to look for him.

Police inspector Naseer Kulkarni said that after lunch, Bodade had taken the keys to the terrace from the security guard. “As he was the society chairman, the watchman handed the keys to him. About half-an-hour later, a thud was heard and residents saw his body lying on the ground.”

At the time of the incident, his family members and alternate relatives who had come to meet Bodade were at home.

“Bodade had been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection last month and had not been keeping well ever since. Though the family seems to be well off, he felt he was adding to the pressure on his son and daughter,” said Kulkarni.

Although residents rushed to assist Bodade, he died on the bring to light.
