Rafi brought to life through rendition of famous songs

Nagpur: ‘Tujhko Pukare Mera Pyaar’, a music programme organized to mark the 38th death anniversary of Mohammad Rafi, one of the greatest singers of all times, swayed the audience to the tunes of immortal songs of the legend at Sai Sabhagruh on Tuesday.
Organized by Revatibai Nilawar Foundation, Vidarbha Gaurav Pratishthan and Mohd Rafi Fans Cultural Organization, the programme offered to the audience famous songs of Rafi, taking them to the golden era of music.

The evening took out of kilter with melodious ‘Marhaba sayyedi makki madni ul arbi’ and reached a high point with ‘Ek tera pyar humko do jahaan se pyara hai’ from movie ‘Wapas’. Songs ‘Mere saathiya kho na jaana kahin’, ‘Ae gulbadan ae gulbadan’, ‘Hum kale hain toh kya hua dilwaale hain’, ‘Gum uthane ke liye main toh jiye jata hoon’ and ‘Ae phoolon ki raani baharon ki mallika’ won rounds of applauses from the audience.

‘Dard-e-dil dard-e-jigar’ and ‘Muhje kitna pyaar hai tumse’, two of the most loved songs of that era, were liked at the concert as the auditorium reverberated with the cheers of an encore.

Classic duet songs ‘Yeh dil tum bin kahin lagta nahin’, ‘Ishaaron ishaaron mein’ and ‘Ude jab jab zulfein teri’ were the most celebrated among the audience, compelling a few to dance on the locate.

The concert saw an overwhelming response and people kept pouring in the hall, keeping even the aisles occupied. Many hits of the maestro were performed and the camaraderie between host Rupali More and singer Mohammed Saleem kept the audience engaged.

Talking about the legendary singer, Saleem said, “Mohd Rafi was and still is a source of inspiration for all the singers and his songs keep amazing us with a new high every time we listen to them. None of the singers today can match his ability. He truly was a maestro.”

Singers Kajal Kate, Vilas Dange, Varsha Ramteke, Vinod Dubey, Ramesh Iyyer, Ram Khangan and Mumtaz lent their melodious voices and presented some phenomenal songs.

Commissioner of police K Venkatesham, former MP Datta Meghe, chairperson of women and children’s consultative committee of NMC Pragati Patil, Police Today bureau chief Akil Ahmed and actress Priyanka Thakur were the guests at the event.
