THANE: The Friday chaos due to the motormen agitation has forced the Central Railway to delay the implementation of its plan to extend halts of Mumbai-bound suburban trains on platform number 6 at Thane station. The CR had planned to halt all suburban trains arriving on platform number 6 at 90m or approximately four coaches ahead from its existing halt towards Mumbai.
Railway officials said that there has been no communication between the administration and the motormen over implementing the new halts, especially after the sudden agitation on Friday. This left them with no option but to postpone the same. Officials said that it was difficult for the motormen to be apprised of the new alterations.

“The sudden Friday agitation left us with no option but to communicate with the motormen who had to be informed of this change. We wanted to implement the change in halts over the weekend, but are now waiting for a fresh communication; after which we will implement the same. Meanwhile, all necessary works have been completed by us and we are most likely to implement the same by Wednesday,” said Suresh , station director at Thane.
The Central Railway had decided to shift halts of all suburban trains halting on platform 6 towards the Mumbai-side to ensure maximum utilization of the new foot over bridge, constructed at the CSMT-end and reduce passenger traffic on the Kalyan end.
