2 techies, college student killed in car accident

COIMBATORE: Three men were killed when the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with another car at Venkatapuram Pirivu on L&T Bypass Road on Saturday morning. Seven people have suffered serious injuries.

The deceased were identified as S Goutham, 24 and C Chidambaranath, 24 of Cheran Maa Nagar, and A Gokulnath, 22, of Irugur. Goutham was a second year Master of International Business student in a private college. Chidambaranath and Gokulnath were working in IT firms here, police sources said. “The trio, along with their friends Aravindh, Salman Baris and Vigneshwaran, were returning from a playground near a private college on L&T Bypass Road after a game of in the car around 9.30am. Chidambaranath was driving the car in a reckless manner. When the car reached Venkatapuram Pirivu, Chidambaranath lost control and crashed into another car coming from the opposite direction. While the trio was killed on the spot, Aravindh, Salman and Vigneshwaran suffered serious head injuries,” a police officer said.

Three people in the different car have also suffered serious injuries. “The vehicle belongs to an education institution at Ettimadai. Vinith was driving the car. He was on the way to the city to drop Subijith and Mohit Gupta. Vinith has suffered multiple fractures. Subijith and Mohit Gupta have suffered serious head injuries,” the officer told TOI.
