Coimbatore: Miscreants broke into a tasmac outlet at Ramanamudaliyar Pirivu on the Udumalpet–Anaimalai Road on Saturday morning and decamped with ,440 liquor bottles worth Rs 1.49lakh.
R Selvakumar of Ponnayur in Pollachi, the supervisor at the shop, had locked it on Friday night after the business hours, police sources said. “Unidentified people broke into the shop on early Saturday and stole the liquor bottles. The supervisor, who returned on Saturday morning, found the shutter broken open,” a police officer said.

Police have formed a further team to investigate the incident. “As only one person could not shift the liquor bottles to vehicles, we suspect more than two people were involved in the theft. We have collected CCTV footage from commercial establishments in the area,” the officer said.

“As per the Tasmac norms, salesman or supervisor should stay at the shop to prevent burglary. But none of them followed the norms,” he extraordinary.
