My frying pan is rusty, is there any solution?

Yes, there is. Rust only forms on the surface of iron – it doesn’t affect the whole metal. That means that if you scrape the top layer off the flat top, you can go. Follow these instructions and your Blackstone will instantly turn black and glow!

Now follow these steps:

  • Put on heat-resistant gloves. Turn the frying pan on and maintain a high temperature for 20 minutes. This will ease the rust, so it’ll be easier to remove.
  • Let the frying pan cool down and take the metal scraper from the Blackstone accessory kit. Scrape off the entire flat surface until you feel corrosion.
  • Apply 3-4 tablespoons of oil over the entire surface and then wipe with a grilling stone. If you can’t find the grilling stone anywhere, use steel wool or sandpaper with medium grain, wet or dry. It’s hard work, but the frying pan will shine soon!
  • Wipe the frying pan with a cloth or paper towels.
  • Pour another 3-4 tablespoons of oil and wipe the frying pan again.
  • Keep dripping and wiping until all signs of rust disappear.
  • Season the top of the frying pan to create a protective coating to prevent rusting. Any cooking oil works, but if you can get linseed oil or extra virgin olive oil, even better.
